Rob Dydrek is a guy who lives the dream. We all know him from his hit reality TV show Rob and Big. Now that the show is done, he’s ready to take on the skateboarding industry and his first step is speaking up.
In a recent interview with Skateboarding magazine he says ” Southern California is the epicenter of the entire skateboarding business,” he says. “All the money, all the pros, everything; and yet no one is doing anything. All they do is worry about their sales… nobody cares about the fact that skateboarding is just so fucked. You got shit like the X Games and the Mountain Dew tour and all this shit that has nothing to do with skateboarding, and you have all these people building these shit skate parks-concrete eyesores with fences around ‘em.”

Although Dydrek can be criticized for pairing up with MTV and whoring his show out with sponsors like Monster and DC, he has shed new light on street skating. He’s not the only one upset with the XGames as they’ve dropped surfing and the vert ramp skateboarding. After big stars threatened to boycott and the XGames would lose money, they wisely decided to resurrect the vert ramp for 2008.
