Today I read: The Meaning of Life by Esquire Magazine. A compilation of interviews, people from Economists to actors to Snoop Dogg that talk about their thoughts on life and how it should be lived. Lots of great stories, not super deep and philosophical but some good humor and pictures. What I got out of it, the reaffirmation of:

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

Every day you have the choice, either make yourself happy or make yourself sad. In America we have the rights that allow us to chase happiness. A lot of entrepreneurs play with the end goal in mind—retirement, to make a million bucks, or maybe even to donate those dollars to charity. That’s all fine and dandy but what about the journey? If you are working solely for the end game, it’s going to be a long journey.

As Brett Leve from the Summit Series said “Practice self amusement every day”.

Every day we should be looking to make ourselves happy not 5 years 5 months or 1 week down the road. Hard work comes with a price—don’t forget your work should be one of the things that creates happiness, not the idea of retirement or monetary returns.

People have been asking me non stop lately “What should I wrote about?!” My answer: write about what you care about.

I had an extremely gratifying response to my most recent article on Under30CEO. It was a response to BusinessWeek’s GenY hating cover story called “The Lost Generation”.

I responded with a letter to our disheveled looking cover boy Dan, telling him to step up his game and become a leader!

Not only did a I get an incredible buzz going on Twitter and some amazingly thought out responses, but BusinessWeek put my face/quote on their homepage and put me in their “In Your Face” section.

After all of this they’ve asked me to craft a counterpoint article to be published in BusinessWeek! This past weekend I attended my 6th Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization National Conference.  Under30CEO rocked the place, throwing a huge party; I did a keynote on pursuing your passion, we gave to breakout sessions “Growing Your Credibility and Looking Experienced as a Young Entrepreneur” and “Building Your Rock Star Online Presence” and capped it off sitting on the lunch keynote panel.

It was an awesome weekend, went out to dinner with some prominant Bryant Alum and met a ton of people I’d been talking to on Twitter for months!  A big success celebrating Under30CEOs 1 year anniversary.
